I lost my hat
That windy day.
Ah there it went;
An accident.
Don’t blame myself.
Niagara, no!
Please give it back.
I got too close:
Hat, adios,
Out on the edge.
I miss my hat!
I miss its shade.
I left the Falls;
My hat, it stayed.
Leaned out too far
Over the rail;
I got my shot.
Wish I had not!
Wind got my hat.
I miss my hat!
I miss its shade.
I left the Falls;
My hat, it stayed.
Just see my hat
In this sad shot:
That last big ledge
right near the edge,
In the wild grass and rocks,
Cruel wind it blows.
Nobody knows
When it will stop
Breaking my heart,
Taking my hat.
