We were at the Baltyk,
off Houston Street.
We knocked off about a quarter to four.
You brought Frankie; we parked our cabs.
I brought my radio and my trip sheet.
I slid my picture out; I counted my money
and I could afford a couple of beers.
It was a good night;
Not too many problems.
Your friend Frankie told you
What to do with your life.
Off Houston Street by the big wall
Three guys warm themselves
Around a fire in an oil drum.
When I stopped at the light
They asked for change;
I don't give out change.
Stopped about fifty yards or so from the light
With the other whites.
It was a good night...
Midnight on the FDR:
A beautiful woman lives there.
When I pulled into the lay-by
She comes up and says she can help me;
She changed my tire, it was incredible.
She lifted my car three feet in the air.
And I thought only bums lived there
On the FDR / in the stripped cars.
It was a good night...
This is a small club and
It's like many other nights.
It's raining outside that's why
There's such a small crowd:
No dancing, no fights.
At least some drinking;
Maybe they'll want us back.
We have a following
And we poster for every show.
Our single comes out in July
And we got a great demo.
It was a good night...
